General Information

Cultivating gourmet mushrooms is a hobby that requires quite a bit of research, patience, and self-resilience. Instructions for cultivation are not generally included with this product. If you have any questions, I am happy to point you in the direction of helpful resources.

Please do not ask about any illegal or psychedelic species or strains of said species. We only offer culinary and functional species, and will not respond to requests or questions about anything illegal.

Domestic Return Policy

We do not offer refunds or free replacements for any orders. If your package is lost and does not arrive or returns to me with intact contents due to issues with the postal service or given address, we will not issue a refund; however, we can send a replacement should the product arrive damaged. When you place an order within the US, it is assumed that you have read and accepted our domestic shipping policy.

International Shipping/Return Policy

We are happy to ship outside the US but do not offer refunds or free replacements for these orders. If your package is lost and does not arrive, or if your package is refused by customs and returns to me with intact contents, we will not issue a refund, however, we can send a replacement in exchange for payment of the additional shipping cost for the replaced item. We are not responsible for any custom charges, duty fees or taxes your country may charge you. When you place an order that needs to be shipped outside of the US, it is assumed that you have read and accepted our international shipping policy.

Who is SoFlo?

SoFlo Fungi was founded in early 2020 in Deerfield Beach, Florida, by Sam Kwalwasser. Sam has imbued the business with his passion for citizen science and analytical thinking. At the same time, we like to keep it fun and interesting, and not take ourselves too seriously.

Sam applies microbiological lab techniques to collect, preserve, and breed fungal phenotypes. At this time, we have collected more than 30 species of fungi from around the world. Of these, the strains we have tested and have confidence in are made available to customers, right here in our shop.

These cultures each have been sourced in 3 possible ways. Some strains are clone isolates made from tissue samples of native culinary and medicinal mushrooms collected in South Florida by SoFlo Fungi. Others have been collected by colleagues and friends in various regions of the globe. Finally, a few of the cultures we have are carefully curated commercial strains capable of sustaining full scale culinary mushroom farms.

All of our products are cultured, processed, and packed in front of a H14 hospital grade HEPA filter with constant laminar flow using the utmost care and meticulous sterile technique.
