This Golden Oyster was bred from spore, and has some unique characteristics as well as the most brilliant golden color. The caps have a wavy shape that seems to be a genetic trait rather than a environmentally or nutrition dependent one.
The pictured mushroom was grown on hickory hardwood sawdust with 10% supplementation of wheat bran. It was colonized indoors and brought out into the South Florida Summer to fruit on our shaded back porch at home.
More generally, Golden Oyster (Pleurotus citrinipileatus) is a wonderfully flavorful delicate yellow oyster mushroom, which grows well indoors, or in warm weather. It will grow very well on supplemented hardwood sawdust, or straw. It requires relatively high humidity, and lots of fresh air. It does very well outdoors when weather is humid, as well as indoors in a controlled climate.
Our cultures come in sterile syringes filled 10cc of premium live mycelium, sterile water, and a carefully chosen proprietary blend of nutrients specific to the species of fungi selected.
