Popcorn oyster (Pleurotus cornucopiae), also known as Branched Oyster is a less well known oyster species which is extremely aggressive, and does well in warmer temperatures. It originates from the British Aisles, which it grows during the Summer months on hardwood trees. It is known for it’s delicious, savory seafood flavors and large branched clusters of fruiting bodies. It will grow from 65-90F on anything you give it: cardboard, coffee, hardwood sawdust, master’s mix, or anything else you’d care to try it on. I have yet to find a substrate that did not fruit with this species – not to say there isn’t one! It will do best in moderate humidity during fruiting – 85% +/- 5%, or up to 95%.
My cultures come in sterile syringes filled 10cc of premium live mycelium, sterile water, and a carefully chosen proprietary blend of nutrients specific to the species of fungi selected.
